We're Floored!

Abbey Design And Remodel Showroom Interior

Flooring is arguably the most important feature of any home or office. Floors not only set the foundation for the aesthetic look of the space, they can impact sound quality, room temperature, and even health. Through careful inspection, thoughtful design, and precise installation, Abbey Design + Remodel provides the highest quality flooring — from beautiful hardwood in a multitude of finishes to pet-friendly carpets — that is at once fundamental, but makes for the most radical transformation. So how do you go about choosing the right flooring for you? We’re breaking down the four categories of flooring – Hardwood, Carpet, Tile, and Vinyl – so you can make the best choice for you and your family.

Hardwoods tend to be more expensive, but with proper maintenance and care, they can last centuries! The greatest advantage of hardwood flooring is that it is easy to clean and maintain and the color does not fade. They are also aesthetically very elegant and can even increase the price of your home by up to 5%.

Carpeting works great for spaces like living rooms and bedrooms because it creates a warm, cozy feel! It also absorbs noise so your space is quieter and echoing is reduced. It’s less expensive than hardwood and easier and faster to install, which makes it an appealing option for many people. Generally, there are many more styles of carpeting than other flooring options so you can choose a pattern or design that is uniquely you. On the downside, it tends to need more maintenance and must be replaced more often.

Tile flooring is a beautiful low maintenance flooring option, and is great for increasing the resale value of your home. It’s incredibly water-resistant and eco-friendly as well. Tile flooring is great for bathrooms and kitchens where spillage and heavy foot traffic is likely, or anywhere you’d like to add an artisanal touch to your home. Tile is very popular as a design element for backsplashes and showers.

Vinyl offers a cost-effective option for homeowners looking to update their flooring. It can look very similar to a hardwood or tile finish at an affordable price point and can last up to 20 years with good care. Some downsides include the fact that they cannot be repaired and generally do not increase the resale value of your home. As they are made from reprocessed plastic, they can contain toxic phthalates, lead, cadmium, brominated flame retardants, and other toxic chemicals, which can contribute to indoor air pollution by drifting out of the flooring and into the air and dust inside homes.
