At Abbey Design + Remodel, we understand it can take years to save up for that big remodel you’ve been dreaming, pinning, and moodboarding for, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make smaller updates to spruce up your home in the meantime. Abbey’s Senior Designer Justin Goodman shared his top four design tips that won’t break the bank, but will still give your home that fresh rejuvenation. Consider it the “mini-facelift” of the remodeling world.
A FRESH COAT
If you’re looking to make the biggest bang for your buck, paint is your new best friend. Old walls really show age and wear so a fresh coat of paint will instantly renew the space. For a totally transformative effect, go for a unique and exciting color.
CHOOSE A STATEMENT PIECE
When you’re not ready to tear the walls out but you still want to make a noticeable update in your home, switch out one humdrum piece of furniture for one that makes a statement. Whether it’s a gorgeous rug, a coffee table, or a sofa, one purposeful swap is sometimes all you need. Extra tip: Scour vintage markets to add a statement piece that is truly unique – and at a bargain price.
UPGRADE YOUR TEXTILES
Another way to give your home a cost-effective “lift” is with textiles. Throw pillows, blankets, and new bedding in fresh new colors and/or modern patterns can make a big difference in updating the look and feel of your home without breaking the bank.
INSTALL ARTWORK
The beauty of art is that it doesn’t have to be expensive to be valuable – it just has to be meaningful and special to you. Consider framing art to add pops of color and personality to your space. A few intentionally placed pieces can go a long way!
No matter where you are in the design process, we love helping people make the most out of their space. We truly believe everyone deserves a home that is their sanctuary, whatever that may look like. We hope our tips inspire you to build your dream home!
